Introduction
Dedicated to increasing background knowledge and cultural awareness of East Asia through a literary focus of study and exploration, this website serves to connect you to myriad resources - such as books, animated shorts, music videos, and web pages - that have emerged from or about East Asian countries. Centering around China, Japan, and Korea with several secondary countries attributed - like the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, and Indonesia - this site concentrates and compiles authentic information on each country for "fast facts" and easy access.
Through original materials, it also hopes to provide and suggest engaging, didactic, and relevant instructional tools and approaches for teachers who wish to integrate international literature into their curriculum and foster globally aware students. Such original contributions included are comprehensive author studies on East Asian authors, short books reviews of international picture books, chapter books, and graphic novels, a helpful classification system of East Asian traditional literature, and literacy-based lesson plans aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
All pictures are linked to their original sources, helping to maintain an informal bibliography.
